Reading Running Record app for iPhone and iPad

Reading Running Record provides teachers and reading coaches with the ability to track the progress of reading students. Using Reading Running Record, Students and Books are leveled using one of nine industry standard reading leveling systems. Then reading tests are administered to leveled students using leveled books that match their reading level. Reading Running Record makes an audio recording of the students reading and calculates performance analytics while the teacher annotates the recording as reading errors are made and as errors are self-corrected. Later, the recording can be reviewed by the teacher - jumping from error to error. A summary of the analytics can be emailed.

To get started with Reading Running Record,

1. Reading Level System - Using Edit Settings, select a Reading Level System if the default Fountas Pinnell system is not to be used. To facilitate the matching of students with books that are appropriate to their reading ability, both students and books are leveled using one of the teacher-selectable leveling systems:

2. Books - Using Add Book, at least one Book must be added before a Student Reading can be added. Each book is assigned to a level of the Reading Level System.

3. Classes - Using Add Class, at least one Class must be added before a Student can be added. One or more students can be assigned to each class.

4. Students - Using Add Student, at least one Student must be added before a Student Reading can be added. Each student is assigned to one Class and one level of the Reading Level System.

5. Student Reading - Using Add Reading, a new Student Reading can be added for a previously added Student and Book. While a student does their reading, an audio recording is captured. You can mark times during the recording when the student made errors and you can designate whether they were self-corrected. Performance analytics are calculated during the recording.

6. Review Recording - The recording can be played back - in its entirety or by jumping from error to error. A summary of the analytics can be emailed to a pre-defined email address and to one or more additional addresses.
